Welcome from the Commodore of the Antigua Yacht Club

On behalf of the Antigua Yacht Club, welcome to the 25th Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, the largest and longest running classic regatta in the Caribbean.

During the past year, we have completed many improvements and alterations. In 2012, we will continue to upgrade the sailing facilities, with new showers, toilets and changing rooms.

The Yacht Club Office is now on the ground floor, to the right at bottom of the staircase. The Upper Deck now includes a new Events facility as well as a Lounge. This is usually open to Members and their guests only, although for special occasions, such as this Regatta, you are welcome to join us. Regatta Registration is also on the Upper Deck.

Our excellent restaurant, Cloggy's, has also undergone major renovations to its kitchen and infrastructure. Both Members and non-Members are equally welcome to enjoy the delicious lunches and dinners served in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Yacht Club sailing has become increasingly popular with more people both sailing and learning to sail. Our Youth Programme, which operates at weekends and during school holidays, is often over subscribed. Laser racing for Members takes place Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Membership is growing , especially now that weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual memberships are now available. Corporate memberships allow Owners/Captains to join their designated crew at reduced rates.

The new National Sailing Academy was formed in 2010 and sailing instruction currently takes place here at the Yacht Club. Although endorsed by the Government, it is funded entirely by sponsorship and offers free sailing & swimming lessons to all children through a Schools Programme. Its primary aim is to take students starting in an Optimist dinghy onto keelboats and, potentially, into employment in the Yachting Industry.

We hope you enjoy your stay and wish you fair winds, calm seas and blue skies throughout.
